Dorcas Oduor Biography – Dorcas Agik Oduor is an experienced legal practitioner with over three decades of experience. She has been nominated by President William Ruto to serve as the Attorney General of Kenya.

Education and Career

Oduor is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

She holds a Master of Arts in International Conflict Management and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree, both from the University of Nairobi.

Additionally, she obtained a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.

Currently, she serves as the Secretary of Public Prosecutions at the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Previously, she held various roles, including Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Head of Economic, International, and Emerging Crimes Departments, and Deputy Chief State Counsel.

Other Engagements

Oduor has been actively involved in various agencies and commissions.

She chaired the Board of Review on Mentally Insane (Criminal Psychiatric) and participated in commissions related to land clashes, the Goldenberg Affair, and the Artur Brothers.

Her contributions extend to police reform, criminal psychiatry, and combating money laundering and terrorist financing.

Roles as Attorney General

Pending approval by the vetting committee, Oduor will assume the role of Attorney General.

Her responsibilities will include:

Serving as the government’s principal legal advisor.

Representing the national government in court and legal proceedings.

Overseeing the Department of Justice, human rights, legal aid, and law reform.

Providing policy coordination and oversight for legal sector institutions.
