Ireti Kingibe Biography, Early Life and Background

Ireti Heebah Kingibe was born on the 2nd of June, 1954 in Kano State Nigeria.

Her educational journey began at Emotan Preparatory School, followed by Queen’s College Lagos and Washington Irving High School for her secondary education. She holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota.

Career and Achievements

Kingibe’s career path includes roles as a Quality Control Engineer, an engineer with the Minnesota Department of Transportation Design unit, and a project supervisor with the Nigerian Air Force base in Ikeja, Lagos. She has also worked as a planning engineer and a consultant. Currently, she serves as a senior partner with Kelnic Associates in Abuja.

Political Activities

In the political arena, Kingibe started as an Adviser to the National Chairman of the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 1990. She has been associated with various political parties, including the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP), the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and the All Progressives Congress (APC). In 2022, she joined the Labour Party and won the FCT Senatorial seat in the 2023 Nigerian elections. Her commitment to addressing infrastructural deficits in rural communities within the nation’s capital led her to pledge her basic salary for this purpose.

Husband, Family and Children

Ireti Kingibe, was previously married to Baba Gana Kingibe, the former Secretary of the Federation’s Government. They have three children together: two boys and a girl.
